Empower Business Solutions Awarded Value Drug Company Contract Altoona, Pa., July 1, 2009 – Empower Business Solutions announced today that they have been awarded a contract and will begin the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics GP, WMS (warehouse management system) and Inventory Demand Planner for Altoona based Value Drug Company. Dynamics GP, known formerly as Microsoft Great Plains, is a complete ERP solution for small to medium size companies providing financial, supply chain, and CRM. Microsoft also will utilize software from ASC for warehouse management, and RockySoft for inventory demand planning. These companies are Microsoft Gold certified and tested to work seamlessly with Dynamics GP. Empower Business Solutions is a Microsoft Gold Dynamics GP and Business Intelligence partner. These certifications provide a way for customers to identify companies that have proven their commitment and expertise in one or more specialized areas when delivering Microsoft technologies. Established in 1934, Value Drug Company was formed as a cooperative by local Independent Pharmacists to consolidate their purchasing power. They are rated as one of the top ten independent wholesale drug distributors in the United States. Value Drug has been running legacy Accounting, ERP and WMS systems on proprietary and UNIX based systems since 1979. For the last 12 years, they have been managing & developing in house the present ERP system. In addition to the many challenges of maintaining their own, others include limited system expandability, integration of many systems, quick access to meaningful data and serious “fee fatigue” with their AIX based Manhattan Demand Planner. They are also facing industry regulations and future introduction of RF-ID technology that their current systems cannot support or would be much too hard to change. ASC was chosen as part of the Dynamics solution to manage the warehouse and help address one of the biggest regulatory changes called E-Pedigree. Empower and ASC will help create the required electronic documents which satisfies the E-pedigree requirements (multiple Pedigree requirements are in place or proposed by the State Governments to help protect consumers from contaminated medicine or counterfeit drugs). Value Drug’s system evaluation came down to a short list of SAP and Dynamics GP. SAP’s solution is installed at some of the largest Wholesale Drug Distributors in the country. But after evaluating both solutions price points, service/implementation models and long term TCO estimates, Dynamics GP, ASC (Warehouse Mgmt) and RockySoft (Inventory Demand Planner) were chosen. ### EBS ### Primary Contact: |
